some things considered – slowed and reverb
Willebrant
Time stretches in this version of some things considered.
The slowed tempo and extended reverbs transform the original material into something almost weightless. A quiet piano line emerges first, fragile yet steady, its notes suspended in long decays. Around it, synth pads and low drones begin to awaken slowly, forming a soft and enveloping field.
The piece was recorded very early in the morning from Willebrant’s home, capturing the stillness just as the land begins to wake. That sense of dawn is tangible. The atmosphere feels untouched, hushed, as if the world itself were pausing before its first breath. Subtle bird sounds flicker through the texture, not as decoration, but as part of the environment being documented and translated into sound.
Nature sounds appear gently within the composition, always integrated. The result is deeply somnolent, true to its understated description. The music does not attempt to move forward. It lingers. It allows space between tones. Silence becomes part of the structure.
Willebrant has spoken about wanting to create a calm, in-the-moment experience, one that allows the listener to stop and feel resonance within the environment. That intention is clearly realized. The slowed pacing enhances the emotional depth of the melody. The piano holds, drops, and washes over fluctuating drones, creating subtle waves of tension and release. Each phrase feels deliberate, yet entirely unforced.
Karl Willebrant, the Naarm/Melbourne-based artist behind the project, builds immersive ambient landscapes from bass guitar, synths, found instruments, and field recordings. In this version, his approach leans fully into stillness and spatial awareness.
some things considered becomes less a track and more a suspended moment at dawn.
Deeply calming, beautifully restrained, and quietly luminous.
