Nissan Groove
Light arrives first. Not as brightness, but as shimmer. High, glistening tones spread gently across the sound field, each note trailing long, luminous reverbs that blur the edges of space. The result is a horizon that feels boundless, almost sky-like in its openness.
There is a buoyancy to Ripples. The textures seem to float rather than sit. Pads breathe softly beneath the sparkling upper layers, expanding and contracting with quiet patience. The atmosphere feels sunlit, as if suspended above a sea of clouds where movement is slow and gravity barely registers.
The composition does not rely on complexity. Its strength lies in balance. Each element is placed with care, allowing clarity without sterility. The extended reverbs create depth without overwhelming the delicate melodic fragments that ripple through the piece.
Nissan Groove, the alias of Aleksei Kavasin and founder of the Samara-based label Oblast, brings a curatorial ear to his own productions. That sensibility is evident here. The track feels cohesive and intentional, shaped with attention to texture and spatial nuance.
Ripples lingers rather than concludes.
Luminous, gently breathing, and beautifully suspended in light.
