Light Breathing (Nature Version)
As You See, Pax Natura
German ambient artist Michael Schacht and Finnish field recordist and composer Lauri Heiskanen join forces on Light Breathing (Nature Version), a tranquil collaboration that blurs the boundary between music and landscape.
At its heart, the piece unfolds through shimmering synthesizer pads and slowly evolving drones that drift like sunlight across a quiet river. Delicate harmonic textures rise and fade with remarkable patience, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that invites the listener to slow down and simply exist within the moment.
Flowing beneath the music is the gentle murmur of a northern river, recorded in the Finnish wilderness. Rather than serving as a backdrop, the water becomes an equal musical voice. Its subtle movement intertwines with the synthesizers, forming an organic tapestry where nature and composition breathe together.
The result evokes the feeling of a warm summer day in the North: sunlight dancing across the water’s surface, a gentle breeze moving through the landscape, and the unhurried rhythm of nature unfolding at its own pace. There is no destination here, only presence. Light Breathing (Nature Version) offers a space where the listener can step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with stillness.
The collaboration brings together the distinct strengths of both artists. Michael Schacht’s atmospheric synthesizer work provides the composition’s luminous foundation, while Lauri Heiskanen’s field recordings contribute a sense of place and authenticity that anchors the music in the natural world. Together they create a soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive, familiar yet dreamlike.
